After being abandoned by her owners at a shelter, Pit Bull mix Hope and her litter of puppies were rescued by the New Leash on Life organization in Southern California. At first, the puppies appeared on The Pet Collectives “puppy cam,” becoming mini-celebrities and after that were featured in the second season of “The Litter,” narrated by pet lover Sharon Osbourne. In this video, we see a truly inspiring story, all of the puppies (and mother Hope) have been adopted and are preparing to go to their “forever” homes.

This is my adopted dog Kharma, who I rescued during the 2007 California fires. He stayed with me for a week and “officially” became family. He was the inspiration for my 100 Cali Dogs,100 Stories Project that tells the story of 100 dogs and their humans. Every dog has a story and Kharma’s story is just one of the many stories I hear from owners of “rescue” dogs.

I am a vet tech, and Boris came into my clinic in May through a local rescue organization. He had an eye infection, skin infection, terrible teeth, and heartworms. His coat was matted and he looked terrible. He was groomed and treated for all of the above ailments, and two months later he was still in our clinic, lacking a foster home. I finally took him home from work one day because I knew he needed to get out of the kennel. After two months of fostering him, I adopted him because he is one of the coolest dogs I’ve ever met. He’s so chill, so friendly, so sweet, and so loving. I’m so glad he’s joined my life.
This picture is shortly after I adopted him, got him another summer haircut (with a sweet mohawk!), while he was the center of attention at a happy hour near my clinic.

This is my 7 month old puppy, Athena. We adopted her from a rescue who had found her tied up to a fence on the side of the highway with a broken leg and tail when she was 3 months old. Despite everything she’s been through, she’s an incredible dog that’s full of love for everyone and everything, except for maybe our shoes.

This one of my foster dogs Winter before she was adopted. I took her up to visit my mom and my mom fell in love with her. Winter is such a sweet and gentle dog and I am so happy she has found her furrever home. My life consists of my husband and our animals. I rescue, foster, and transport animals and it’s the best non-paying job in the world!!

We adopted this little guy when he was around 6 months old from a small rescue.
We’d been looking for a dog for my younger brother for a while and had originally decided on another rescue greyhound, but when my mum went to the rescue just for a quick look out of curiosity and saw him curled up in the corner of the big pen and couldn’t leave him.
So that day me and my brother came home from school to the most adorable little dog and he’s been the heart of the family ever since.
He’s around 1 year and 2 months old now and and he’s the sweetest little thing, our other two dogs love him too :)

5 years ago, we lost our dog Ace. He was best friends with our other dog and after he passed away, she would hardly eat and she wouldn’t go outside anymore. After two days of this, we went to Petco and found this girl. Her name was China and we were absolutely smitten. China had been found under a steak house along with her brothers and sisters. We adopted her a few days later from our local rescue and couldn’t have gotten a better dog.
