Dog Flees Kennel And Takes The Subway Home
A black lab from Sweden has earned some well deserved notoriety after breaking out of a boarding kennel and taking a train home.
The four-year-old pooch, Eira, was dropped off at a kennel last Thursday, in the southern Stockholm suburb of Hökarängen, and soon after pulled off the ultimate escape. Somehow, Eira managed to evade her caretakers, run over a kilometer to the nearest metro station, and hop on a northbound train.
Eira’s owner was dumbfounded by the dog’s uncanny sense of direction. Not only did she board the correct train – she then waited patiently on board as passengers got on and off, making her way home to Gullmarsplan in Southern Stockholm, which is six stations away.
When Eira got off the train in Gullmarsplan, she was noticed by station staff who took her in and called the police. They tracked down Eira’s owner Caroline, who laughed and said, “If she hadn’t been detained she would probably have been waiting for me by the door.”
Eira is at home recovering from a minor paw injury from her adventure. Caroline said she has no plans to board the escape artist in the future.
